Yellow Fever

Yellow fever is transferred from human to human via mosquito. It is therefore recommended to use mosquito repellent.

Yellow fever exists in Africa and South America – in countries in the area between 15 degrees north and 15 degrees south of the equator. Vaccinations are given to children over one year old. Children less than one year old should instead be well protected with mosquito repellent.

The side effects from the vaccination are soreness, redness and warmth in the area where the vaccination was given. After 5 to 12 days fever, headache and muscle pain furthermore appear for a few days.

The vaccination is given as a single shot.

Hereafter, the child is protected for 10 years.
