Hepatitis A
Protection from infectious hepatitis
Occurs in most parts of the world with exception of Europe, North America, Japan, Australia and New Zealand. Look closer on the map here. It is transferred from person to person (especially children in day care) or via contaminated water/foodstuff.
The illness often passes mildly with children.
Infants hardly need vaccination.
Children from the age 2 and older can be vaccinated and larger children from age 12 should be vaccinated.
The vaccination is given as a shot that is repeated after 6 months. Hereafter, the child is protected for at least 15 years.
